The Head of Neurosurgery Specialist Study Program, one of the candidates for Chancellor of Undip for the years 2024–2029, explained that he came to visit alumni of Undip and that his decision to run for the position was motivated by his desire to support his alma mater.
To promote more productive research at Undip is one of Prof. Thohar’s concerns. Since the outcomes of research to date have only produced papers, they cannot be sold as scientific findings.
“Research collaboration must be trans-disciplinary, must match ideas and funds,” he said.
Prof. Budi Setiyono, S.Sos, M.Pol, Ph.D., Vice Chancellor III for communications and business, was among the other candidates present. According to his justification, Undip’s research budget is currently between IDR 35 and 40 billion, so its research must be cutting-edge.
“Undip has a research budget of IDR 35–40 billion, he explained, because it needs to be creative in its research methods,” he said.
According to the university’s official website, undip.ac.id, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum will be replaced as chancellor soon. There have been several steps taken, beginning with outreach, registration, and screening. Furthermore, the Board of Trustees of Diponegoro University will be responsible for the selection, election, and appointment of the chancellor.
For the position of Undip chancellor from 2024 to 2029, a number of names have been proposed, including the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Ir. M. Agung Wibowo, MM., M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Chancellor III for communication and business Prof. Budi Setiyono, S.Sos., M.Pol.,Admin., Ph.D, Head of Neurosurgery Study Program Prof. dr. Muhammad Thohar Arifin, Ph.D., PA., Sp.BS (K), and Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E.,M.Sc.
